Dental Laser Scanners

The Laser Scanner Finds Miniscule Cavities Years Earlier

Have you ever had a dentist reveal a new cavity and place a large-scale filling, leaving you curious as to why the filling is so extensive if the cavity wasn't there on your last visit only six months before? The truth is it actually existed during your previous visit, but wasn't yet detectable on X-rays or with a visual inspection. Our doctors are excited to use a laser scanner to identify cavities in their earliest stages, at a time when they can be repaired with only a tiny, invisible filling. You won't ever leave our office wondering if the start of a cavity has been missed. We can discover cavities and take care of them before they become bigger problems.

Your Dental Hygienist!

Normally we think of a teeth cleaning as just that. Our tongues love the smooth and clean feeling we get after visiting our dental hygienist.

But there's another huge benefit to regular teeth cleaning. Hygienists spend time in your mouth. That give them the opportunity to spot suspicious tissue or other possible signs of oral cancer.

Oral cancer has a fantastically high cure rate - but only if it's detected early.

Another reason to love your dental hygienist!

Dental Health

What is Xylitol and How Is It Related to Reducing Cavities?

Twenty-five years of clinical testing have shown that xylitol is the healthiest choice available for a sweetener – both for your teeth and your overall good health. Dental associations in seven European countries have already endorsed its use in a variety of food and dental hygiene products. Typical sugars and starches generate an acid in your mouth that promotes decay. Xylitol is a natural substance extracted from certain fruits and vegetables that does not produce this decay-accelerating acid. It is so natural our bodies actually produce 5 to 10 grams each day. Research has also indicated it is beneficial to people who suffer from allergies. We recommend the use of products containing xylitol for fewer cavities and better respiratory health!

Tooth Enamel

Tooth enamel is very hard but...
That doesn't mean you can't break it.

Our office recommends to avoid eating "hard foods" such as popcorn. Don't crack nut shells with your teeth or chew on ice. Opening packages with your teeth can also damage the enamel.

It's not just the sugar - it's also the acid
Sugar and acids are your teeth's worst enemies. What are we talking about? Soft drinks, energy drinks, fruit juices, and candy.

Because of the acid content, Mountain Dew seems to be the worst of the worst. There is even a name for the damage it does and it is called "Dew Mouth."

These erode the tooth enamel, making it highly susceptible to decay. Parents, watch your kid's consumption of these because young children's enamle hasn't developed fully. This makes these drinks even more damaging for kids.

As well as eliminating the above (or at least reducing their consumption), it is recommended to always brush and floss after every meal. If you can't, use a sugar-free xylitol chewing gum after a meal. Also rinse your mouth with a high quality dental mouthwash.

Implant Retained Dentures

Overdentures – The Answer for Slipping Dentures

Overdentures are another solution for securing your denture or bridge. They halt the frustration caused by slipping or tilting movements when you eat or speak. Overdentures have the same stability as implants, and once you experience how well they fit, your confidence will soar. Giving you a great reason to smile wide!

If traditional dentures are your best option, you can rest in the knowledge that we can design a set that will be very natural looking and fit so accurately that they can't slip. With improvements in dental technology, your denture plate can be anchored solidly. You'll no longer be concern by sliding motions when you eat or talk. Please ask us how we can make your life easier.
